Avocado
Avocado is one of the most popular fresh products in the world! The public's love for it stems from its rich taste, tender texture, and versatility as an ingredient in modern cuisine. Its high nutrient content has established avocado as an emerging Superfood.
It is imported from countries with subtropical climates such as Peru, Chile, Kenya, and South Africa, and of course from Mediterranean countries like Israel, Morocco, and Spain, making it available year-round. In Greece, it is cultivated in the Chania region, known for its unique microclimate that favors avocado production.
There are many varieties of avocado. The most well-known are Hass, Fuerte, and Pinkerton. They are offered in their primary form and as Ready-to-Eat (Ripened).
